Ship research, not slideware
Work here ends in a published spec, an open dataset, or a product release — usually the same quarter it started. You'll see your work used.
Careers
We're a small research lab where the work ends in a published spec, an open dataset, or a shipping product — usually the same quarter it started. Remote-first, deliberately small, hiring carefully.
How we work
Four commitments we make to everyone who joins — written down so you can hold us to them.
Work here ends in a published spec, an open dataset, or a product release — usually the same quarter it started. You'll see your work used.
We hire deliberately slowly. Each person owns a whole problem — a protocol, a pipeline, a product surface — not a slice of a ticket queue.
Most of what you build is published under your name. Your portfolio grows with the lab's registry.
We optimize compute, tokens, and meetings with equal enthusiasm. Deep work is protected; status theater is not.
Open roles
Don't see your role? Send a general application below — we read every one.
Design and specify the next generation of our protocol family — and prove it in production. You'll work across the Virtual DOM, Virtual Browser, and W0rkTree specs and their reference implementations.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
Own generation and validation pipelines that produce billions of tokens of training data. Compilers, sandboxed execution, and mutation testing are your daily tools.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
Build the Rust-native IDE and desktop apps — editor internals, the W0rktree integration, and the context assembly layer that keeps assistance fast and scoped.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
Ship the AI-native design editor: canvas rendering, the theme and token system, and real-time collaboration on PostgreSQL and WebSockets.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
Build autonomous deployment across clouds — pipeline translation, the rollback policy engine, and the agent coordination layer underneath it.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
Push distillation, quantization, and context compression further. You'll publish openly and see your methods deployed in products within the same quarter.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
Help the community build on our specs: reference examples, workshop material, conference talks, and the feedback loop from implementers back into the specs.
Remote (US/EU)Full-time
A focused research project with a named mentor and a publication target. Past interns shipped work in the coordination benchmark suite and the MCP field study.

What we offer
The hiring process
A human reads every application — usually the hiring manager. We reply to everyone within a week, both ways.
An hour with an engineer or researcher on your team, talking through work you've actually done. No trivia, no whiteboard theater.
A scoped, paid exercise close to the real job — reviewing a spec, extending a pipeline, debugging a real system. Four hours, on your schedule.
A half day (remote or on-site) with the people you'd work with, including time with a founder. You interview us as much as we interview you.
A written offer with transparent compensation bands. We give you time to decide and encourage you to talk to anyone on the team.
